Every October, our neighborhoods come alive with pumpkins on porches, cobwebs in windows, and kids in costumes roaming from door to door. But did you know Halloween began more than 2,000 years ago — and its roots actually have a lot in common with the spirit of real estate?

Halloween traces back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced Sow-in), celebrated at the end of the harvest season. It marked the time when people believed the boundary between the living and the dead grew thin. To keep away wandering spirits, villagers lit bonfires, wore costumes, and left treats outside their homes — a tradition that eventually evolved into modern trick-or-treating.

As Christianity spread, All Hallows’ Eve became a night of remembrance before All Saints’ Day. Over centuries, it transformed from superstition into the family-friendly holiday we know today — filled with laughter, creativity, and community.
